Get To Know Killingworth

Killingworth is located in the southern part of Connecticut in Middlesex county with approximately 6,000 residents.

Until 1838 Killingworth was part of the town of Clinton just south on the Connecticut shoreline.  A highlight today is the ability of Killingworth residents to avail of the Clinton town beach.

Killingworth is also home to the first Yale classes taught by the Rev. Abraham Pierson in his own home, prior to moving to a more permanent home in Old Saybrook.  The school would eventually find its forever home in New Haven in 1716 where it remains today.

Known for its small town charm, Killingworth has many highlights, among them is Chatfield Hollow State Park.  Enjoy hiking, swimming, fishing and mountain biking in this sprawling state park.

One interesting fact is Killingworth’s 1999 Christmas tree which was selected for Rockefeller Center and holds the record as the largest at 100 feet tall.

There are several horse properties and large estates throughout Killingworth which makes it the perfect destination for someone looking to enjoy the Connecticut shoreline and also private living.
